The Continuous Certification (ConCert) examination, formerly known as the recertification exam is given to board certified emergency physicians every 10 years in order to maintain their certification. According to ABEM, “the exam is focused on assessing the knowledge needed for clinical practice”.

Shorter exam of approximately 205 questions

Single-best-answer, positively-worded, multiple-choice questions focused on
what the practicing emergency physician needs to know when treating patients
-
Test administered at one of 200 computer-based testing centers
-
Test schedules allow adequate time to complete each portion of the examination,
but each session has a time limit.

Test is usually given at the end of October – early November, you can take
it one of the 6 days it is offered
-
Passing = 75% correct
